Big brain = small testicles!
Found in New Scientist:
The analysis of 334 species of bat found that in species where the females were promiscuous, the males had evolved larger testes but had relatively small brains. In species, where the females were monogamous, the situation was reversed. Male fidelity appeared to have no influence over testes or brain size.
Both brain tissue and sperm cells require a lot of metabolic energy to produce and maintain.

The Secret Code of Printers
Computer printers these days print yellow dots that you can only see with a magnifying glass and a special kind of flashlight. And these dots are in code. Unscramble the code and you get the serial number of the printer, and the date and time of printing.
So, don't use your own printer for anything criminal - use a public facility!
The U.S. Secret Service have acknowledged that the markings are real.

Genetically modified? Stop tinkering!
A decade-long project to develop genetically modified peas with built-in pest-resistance has been abandoned after tests showed they caused allergic lung damage in mice.
The researchers – at Australia’s national research organisation, CSIRO – took the gene for a protein capable of killing pea weevil pests from the common bean and transferred it into the pea. When extracted from the bean, this protein does not cause an allergic reaction in mice or people.
So, despite doing everything they scientifically could to predict safety, science is not capable of replicating a real world scenario, and they got it wrong. Did they test the reactions of earthworms, camels or lobsters? Or when the peas are served mushy with fish & chips? No.
GMers, go ask Prince Charles and he'll tell you how to grow vegetables!
